COVID-19 Update

Bay Farm Families,

At Bay Farm, your child's safety is our main priority. Given the developing status of COVID-19, we are taking precautions to ensure a clean and safe learning environment for our faculty and students so that we can continue to provide education inspired by joy, purpose, and compassion. To that end, I wanted to share the additional steps we are taking:

  1. We have shifted our cleaning schedule. Our Director of Facilities, Mike, is using a newly acquired EPA approved disinfecting fog machine to disinfect every classroom 2x each week.
  2. The entire Bay Farm staff and faculty have been working hard cleaning and decluttering areas on campus. We are routinely cleaning frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, and countertops.
  3. We have increased our orders of necessary cleaning supplies such as disposable disinfectant wipes, hand soap, and paper goods.
  4. We have suspended our tooth brushing program in Toddler House and Children's House to prevent the spreading of germs.
  5. We are actively teaching and reminding our children how to wash their hands and promoting consistent hand washing behavior.
  6. Our Kindergarten-Grade 8 teachers are currently developing online activities and homework in the unlikely event of a school closure.
  7. Our staff is fully prepared to be flexible in their classroom assignments and willingness to cover staff unable to come to work.

We are asking our families to use judgment when deciding whether or not to send your child to school if you suspect they are ill. At Bay Farm, our guidelines are to please remain home for 24 hours after:

  • a night of nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • a temperature of 100 degrees or higher.
  • the first treatment for Pink Eye.
  • being diagnosed with Strep Throat and your first treatment.
  • Lice: Please stay home until treated. Seven days after treatment a health care provider should re-examine for infestation.

Here is an additional article that may guide making the decision.

Additionally, we have compiled some helpful resources to provide additional information and advice on how you can support our efforts in your home:

While we have every intention of staying open, in the event of a mandated school closure, we are prepared to use our standard communication channels to notify families. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out.
