2020 has been a challenging time for everyone. Food banks have been hit especially hard by increased demand as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2020, Feeding America and the Greater Boston Food Bank projected that the pandemic could result in an approximately 59% increase in individuals experiencing food insecurity in the eastern Massachusetts area. As the holiday season approaches, we have an opportunity to help those members of our community that are less fortunate and most affected by the current situation.
With the help from Marc Beaupre, Bay Farm parent, Bay Farm is hosting a Holiday Food Drive with all goods benefiting the Plymouth Area Coalition Food Pantry. The Plymouth Area Coalition Food Pantry is a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank that serves over 5,000 individuals (including 2,000 children) in 22 communities across the South Shore.
We will have a collection bin in our main office foyer for anyone wishing to donate items. Commonly needed items include boxed/canned foods, condiments, and infant goods such as baby food, wipes, diapers, and formula. If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
