Bay Farm Montessori Academy Receives Full Accreditation from the American Montessori Society
Formerly affiliated with AMS, Bay Farm is now part of the 15% of nationwide Montessori Schools to receive full accreditation from the organization.
[DUXBURY, MA. July 2019] Bay Farm Montessori Academy has received full accreditation from the American Montessori Society, an honor that positions the school among less than 15% of other Montessori schools across the country. Bay Farm Montessori underwent a thorough process of examining and documenting every aspect of their school, including their mission, curriculum, fiscal policies, governance practices, personnel policies, health and safety practices, facilities, teachers, professional development, and learner outcomes to prove a strict adherence to the high quality of standards to which the AMS holds its accredited schools.
The Self-Study process began in 2017, and an AMS site visit was conducted in May of this year where a team of professionals from schools across the state spent a week on the Bay Farm campus. The team commented that the presence of Montessori core values could be seen everywhere, from the beauty of the classroom environments to the respect exhibited between the adults and the children. It was noted that Bay Farm’s overwhelming climate of spirituality, striking at the heart of the Montessori philosophy and pedagogy, distinguishes Bay Farm Montessori from other schools.
“I always describe Bay Farm as a community that fully embraces each child. The Visiting Team was impressed by the profound respect with which Bay Farm teachers at all levels interact with students. They saw how teachers listen to students patiently with respect and speak to students in a collegial manner, showing how they are partners in the learning process. To me, this captures the spirit of our school. Receiving this accreditation is validation in my vision of Bay Farm and how we deliver on our mission. ”
